A fair deal between a writer and a reader

Part of Money, Borders and Sovereignty — subscribe to the blog from 20000 satoshis for 3 months (90 days).

Here is the deal on offer. You write something. Someone reads it. They pay you — not a platform, not an advertiser, you — and the money lands in your wallet before they have finished the first paragraph. Nobody in the middle. Nobody holding it. Nobody taking a share on the way through.

That deal has never really been available to a writer, and it is the whole reason Creations exists.

It was not available because the money did not work. A reader who wants to pay a few cents for an article cannot do it with a card: the fee is bigger than the payment. So writing on the web has been paid for sideways — by advertising, by subscriptions to bundles nobody reads all of, by platforms that collect on the writer's behalf and pass on what is left. Every one of those puts something between the two people who actually matter.

BSV changes the arithmetic. A payment of two thousand satoshis — a few cents — costs almost nothing to send and settles in seconds, from anywhere to anywhere. Once that is true, a single article can carry its own price. A reader pays it, the article opens, and the writer has been paid. BSVSearch's part is to show the price, watch the chain, and open the door. It never holds the funds. It could not divert a payment if it wanted to.

Two more things belong to the writer here, and I think they are the interesting part.

The first is the AI switch. Every article carries a plain yes-or-no: may this be used to train AI? If the writer says no, it is not offered. If yes, an AI's owner pays the same price a human pays, on the same terms. Most human writing is being taken for that purpose today without anyone asking. Here it is asked, and it is paid for, and the writer chose.

The second is reuse. A writer can license a piece for one named project — a film, a book, a site — at a price they set, with the terms written down and kept. That used to need a lawyer. Here it needs a checkbox.

I will be plain about the stage this is at. It is new. It is open to invited writers, it handles articles only, and much of what it should do is still to be built — other media, other ways to pay. Articles first, because a piece of writing is the easiest thing to put a fair price on and, until now, the hardest thing to get paid for.

If you write — or you have knowledge or experience worth sharing — and this deal sounds like one you would take, the door is open.
